The Federal Government has launched a Digital Training Academy (DTA) designed to equip 32,000 Nigerians with digital skills in emerging technology fields, including artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, cloud computing and software development.
The initiative, unveiled by the Federal Ministry of Education, is expected to run for six months and provide participants with access to professional training and globally recognised certifications in high-demand technology disciplines. Officials said the programme forms part of broader efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s digital workforce and improve employment opportunities for young people in the technology sector.
According to information released at the launch, the academy will focus on developing practical skills in areas such as AI, cybersecurity, coding and cloud technologies. The programme is expected to prepare participants for opportunities in both local and international digital economies.
The government said it has already selected the first cohort of trainees from thousands of applicants who registered for the programme. The selected participants will undergo structured training to build industry-relevant competencies and improve digital literacy across the country.
