Meta, the technology company behind Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram, has unveiled a new initiative to empower small businesses and accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence across its platforms.
The programme, called Meta Small Business, is designed to help entrepreneurs leverage AI tools to build, manage, and scale their operations more efficiently. It targets the more than 250 million small and medium-sized businesses already using Meta’s platforms for advertising, sales, and customer engagement.
The initiative will integrate AI-driven capabilities directly into Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, enabling businesses to automate customer interactions, generate marketing content, and improve data-driven decision-making.
Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg said the move reflects a broader vision of making entrepreneurship more accessible in the AI era. “In the AI era, it should be easier than ever for people to build new businesses,” he said, emphasising Meta’s goal of widening participation in AI-driven economic growth.
The programme will be led by Meta President Dina Powell McCormick and product head Naomi Gleit, highlighting the initiative as a core priority across the company.
Industry observers note that the move differentiates Meta from competitors like Google and Microsoft, which have largely focused on enterprise AI solutions, by doubling down on small businesses that form the backbone of its ecosystem.
Analysts also say embedding AI tools into widely used social and messaging platforms could lower barriers to adoption for small businesses, particularly in emerging markets where access to advanced digital tools has been limited.
The launch underscores Meta’s strategy to position AI not just as a technological advancement but as a practical tool for everyday business operations, potentially reshaping how millions of small enterprises compete in the digital economy.
