Nigeria has emerged as one of the world’s most enthusiastic countries toward artificial intelligence, according to a global survey on AI adoption and public sentiment.
This report was produced by Ipsos in partnership with Google. Findings from the “Our Life with AI” study, conducted across 21 countries with more than 21,000 respondents, show that 70% of Nigeria’s online population have used generative AI, significantly above the global average of 48%.
The Ipso survey also indicates that Nigerians are adopting AI tools at a faster rate than most countries, with usage extending beyond casual experimentation into education, work, and entrepreneurship.
In terms of broader engagement, the report reveals that 88% of Nigerian adults have used an AI chatbot, placing the country well ahead of the global average of 62%.

Public sentiment toward the technology is also notably positive. According to the findings, 87% of Nigerian respondents expressed excitement about AI and believe its benefits outweigh its risks, reflecting strong optimism about its future impact.
The survey further highlights that AI is increasingly being used in Nigeria for learning and skills development, with 93% of respondents reporting use of AI tools to understand complex topics, far above the global average of 74%.
Analysts say the findings point to Nigeria’s growing position as a major adopter of artificial intelligence in emerging markets, driven by widespread digital engagement and increasing reliance on AI-powered tools in everyday activities.
