A viral social-media post claims that “APC Supporters Filling Station” has opened nationwide and is allegedly offering petroleum products at unusually low prices.
The accompanying Facebook text reads:

The image accompanying the post displays the following alleged prices:
- Petrol: ₦250 per litre
- Diesel: ₦230 per litre
- Kerosene: ₦250 per litre
The Facebook account Ohamadike TV published the post.
The same image was also circulated on X by an account identified as Hon. Nwafor Richard Nwali.

The use of the APC name and logo in the image gives the impression that the alleged filling station is connected to, endorsed by, or operated on behalf of the political party. However, the central claim being examined here is whether the advertised fuel prices and the alleged nationwide filling-station operation are genuine.
The Fact-Check
The claimed prices are inconsistent with available fuel-price data
Official and market-reference data do not support the claim that petrol, diesel, and kerosene are generally sold nationwide at ₦250, ₦230, and ₦250 per litre, respectively.
The National Bureau of Statistics’ price-monitoring system records substantially higher national average prices for petroleum products as of 18th September 2028, when this claim was fact-checked, as evidenced in the prices list and screenshot below:
- Premium Motor Spirit (petrol): ₦1,596.25 per litre
- Automotive Gas Oil (diesel): ₦3,277.47 per litre
- National Household Kerosene: ₦2,971.94 per litre
These figures appear on the NBS statistical portal and differ materially from the prices promoted in the viral image.
The NBS also explains that it collects household kerosene data across all 774 local government areas in Nigeria, using thousands of respondents and outlets, and applies verification procedures to the reported prices.
A separate fuel-price tracker, using dated market and official-source references, provides reference prices of approximately: Although fuel prices can vary by location, supplier, and market conditions, these figures are still far above the prices shown in the viral image.
The claim lacks verifiable operational details
The post announces that the alleged filling stations are “now open nationwide” but does not provide:
- The name of a registered petroleum company or operator
- A verifiable corporate address
- A list of station locations
- Evidence of regulatory approval
- A functioning official website
- A credible announcement from a recognised petroleum-sector authority
- Any independently verifiable evidence that the stations are dispensing fuel at the advertised prices
A nationwide petroleum-retail operation would ordinarily require identifiable outlets and regulatory oversight. The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority operates systems to monitor petroleum retail outlets and manage station-related regulatory processes. However, the evidence supplied with the viral post does not establish that the alleged “APC Supporters Filling Station” is a genuine nationwide petroleum-retail network.
The image itself requires scrutiny
The image presents a highly specific commercial announcement but provides no verifiable station address, operator identity, registration information or independently confirmable contact details.
The apparent use of political branding on a commercial-looking filling station is also not evidence that the station exists or that the prices are genuine. A logo, signboard or branded visual can be digitally created or manipulated and does not, by itself, establish authenticity.

The same image’s circulation across Facebook and X does not establish its authenticity. Reposting an image across platforms does not independently confirm the claim.
Verdict: Misleading and AI-generated
The viral image and accompanying claim are misleading. The advertised fuel prices are unsupported and inconsistent with available fuel-price evidence. The image is also AI-generated, rather than a verified photograph or an authentic announcement of a nationwide filling-station network.
