Ondo State has launched Ondo AI, an artificial intelligence-powered system designed to manage civil servants’ personnel records, salary calculations, retirement procedures and transition to the pension system.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa presented the platform at the Cocoa Conference Hall in the Governor’s Office in Akure on Thursday.
The system is designed to give authorised government officials real-time electronic access to personnel information and automate several administrative processes previously handled manually.
According to the state government, Ondo AI contains civil servants’ photographs, appointment details, promotion letters, educational documents, complaints and other personnel records. The system can also alert authorities when an employee is approaching retirement.
Godwin Odoma, managing director of SmartApps IT Limited, which developed the platform, said employees would have access to a self-service module where they can view their personal information and payslips, as well as the number of days remaining until retirement.

The platform is also designed to automate the movement of retiring workers into the pension system, with the aim of reducing delays between the end of employment and commencement of pension payments.
Ondo AI builds on the state’s Ondo Pay platform, which was introduced for centralised personnel records, salary calculations, approvals, payment processing and pension transitions.
The state government said N9.7 billion had been paid to 2,802 people through the system to clear pension and lump-sum payment arrears involving core civil servants, secondary-school teaching and non-teaching staff, and employees of government institutions.
Aiyedatiwa said the initiative was intended to replace outdated manual processes, reduce bureaucratic delays and provide more reliable data for government decision-making.
He also urged officials responsible for entering information into the platform to ensure that personnel records remain accurate and complete.
The launch makes Ondo State one of the Nigerian subnational governments using AI and digital systems to automate aspects of public-sector personnel management, including payroll and retirement administration.
