As artificial intelligence increasingly finds applications beyond traditional technology sectors, Mim’s Motherhood Hub is exploring how digital tools and AI-driven solutions can make motherhood support more accessible, personalised and easier for mothers to navigate.
In an exclusive interview with AIBase reporter Ahmad Ibrahim, Zainab Alhassan Asabe discussed the vision behind Mim’s Motherhood Hub, the gap it aims to address, and how the platform is combining technology, community, and practical resources to support mothers through pregnancy, baby care, and different stages of motherhood.
“At Mim’s Motherhood Hub, we are exploring the use of technology, including AI-driven solutions, to make motherhood support more accessible, personalised and easier for mothers to navigate,” Alhassan said.
She explained that artificial intelligence could help mothers access more relevant information, discover useful resources and receive guidance tailored to their individual needs.
“AI can help improve how mothers access relevant information, discover helpful resources, receive guidance based on their needs, and connect with appropriate support,” she said.
However, Alhassan stressed that technology is not intended to replace the human relationships and community support that many mothers need.
“Our focus is using technology to complement human support and community connection, not replace it,” she said.
More than information
For Alhassan, one of the key gaps in existing parenting platforms is the difference between simply providing information and creating a genuine support system.
“Many parenting platforms provide information, but motherhood is not just about information – it is also about support, community and feeling understood,” she told AIBase.
Mim’s Motherhood Hub was created to address the challenges mothers face while navigating pregnancy, baby care, and motherhood, particularly when they feel overwhelmed, isolated, or uncertain about where to find reliable support.
“Mim’s was created to address the gap many mothers experience: navigating pregnancy, baby care and motherhood while often feeling overwhelmed, isolated or unsure where to find trusted support,” Alhassan said.
The platform combines practical motherhood education, a community of mothers, access to relevant resources and solutions, and tools designed to help mothers organise different aspects of their motherhood journey.
“Our goal is to make mothers feel informed, supported and empowered,” she said.
A community of more than 800 mothers
According to Alhassan, Mim’s has already built a growing founder-led community of more than 800 mothers across WhatsApp and other digital platforms.
“We currently have a growing founder-led community of 800+ mothers across our WhatsApp community and digital platforms,” she said.
The community provides a space for mothers to engage around pregnancy, baby care, personal motherhood experiences and broader support.
While the platform is still growing, Alhassan said Mim’s has already recorded measurable progress through community development, educational engagement and outreach initiatives.
“Since launching, we have built a growing community of over 800 mothers,” she said.
The platform has also supported mothers through “educational conversations, motherhood discussions and resource sharing”, while creating opportunities for women to ask questions, exchange experiences and access relevant support.
One of its community initiatives was an International Women’s Day outreach, through which Mim’s connected physically with more than 50 mothers.
“We continue to measure impact through community engagement, feedback and the needs expressed by mothers,” Alhassan said.
Privacy, trust and responsible health information
As digital platforms increasingly collect and process personal information, particularly in areas connected to health and family life, Alhassan said privacy and trust are central considerations for Mim’s.
“We take mothers’ privacy and trust seriously,” she said.
According to her, the platform follows a community-first approach that encourages responsible information sharing and respect for confidentiality.
“We are intentional about protecting personal information and ensuring that health-related conversations are handled responsibly,” Alhassan said.
She also clarified that the platform’s digital tools are intended to support organisation and access to information rather than replace healthcare professionals.
“Our tools, such as our Vaccination Tracker, are designed as organisational support tools and do not replace professional medical advice or healthcare providers,” she said.
That distinction could become increasingly important as more technology platforms explore the use of AI and digital tools in areas involving personal wellbeing and health-related information.
Building a sustainable motherhood ecosystem
Mim’s Motherhood Hub is pursuing a business model built around partnerships, marketplace opportunities and future technology-driven services.
According to Alhassan, the platform intends to generate value through “brand partnerships and collaborations, marketplace opportunities connecting mothers with relevant products and services, sponsored educational campaigns, and future technology-driven solutions”.
However, she said the approach is centred on building partnerships that are relevant to the community rather than simply creating commercial opportunities.
“Our model focuses on building meaningful partnerships with brands and organisations that genuinely support mothers and families,” she said.
The strategy reflects a broader ambition to develop Mim’s from a community platform into a more comprehensive motherhood ecosystem.
Mim’s Finds, marketplace plans and expansion
The next stage of Mim’s development will focus on expanding the range of services, resources and opportunities available to its community.
Alhassan said the platform is currently developing a stronger motherhood ecosystem through several new initiatives.
These include Mim’s Finds, which will focus on helping mothers discover trusted, relevant products, as well as plans for a marketplace connecting mothers with businesses offering relevant products and services.
The company is also planning more structured motherhood programmes and resources, alongside strategic partnerships with organisations and brands working to support mothers and children.
“We are currently expanding Mim’s into a stronger motherhood ecosystem,” Alhassan said.
Among the areas of focus are “trusted product discovery through Mim’s Finds, a marketplace connecting mothers with relevant businesses, more structured motherhood programmes and resources, and strategic partnerships with brands and organisations supporting mothers and children”.
Alhassan said the team is also preparing for collaborations that could expand the platform’s reach.
“We are excited about upcoming collaborations that will allow us to reach and support more mothers across Nigeria,” she said.
Technology with a human purpose
While AI is expected to play an increasingly important role in the future of digital support services, Alhassan’s vision for Mim’s remains rooted in the human experience of motherhood.
The platform’s approach is based on the idea that technology can make information and resources easier to access, but that mothers also need connection, understanding and community.
As Mim’s Motherhood Hub expands its digital tools, community programmes, marketplace ambitions and AI-driven capabilities, its central challenge will be to maintain that balance – using technology to make support more accessible and personalised without losing the human relationships that underpin the community.
For Zainab Alhassan Asabe, the ambition is to build more than another parenting information platform. The goal is to create an ecosystem where mothers can access practical knowledge, relevant tools, trusted resources and a community that understands the realities of the motherhood journey.
