The Jigawa State Government has deployed an Enterprise Artificial Intelligence (AI) suite across its public basic education system under the JigawaUNITE programme, in partnership with education technology organisation NewGlobe, in a move aimed at improving classroom learning, strengthening teacher support, and enhancing education governance.
The initiative introduces AI-powered tools designed to support lesson delivery, provide pupils with structured learning and catch-up support, and give education authorities real-time access to data across schools.
Officials say the system will enable policymakers to monitor attendance, teacher performance, and student learning outcomes instantly, allowing for faster and more targeted interventions in the education sector.
Speaking in Dutse, the Chairman of the Jigawa State Universal Basic Education Board, Prof. Haruna Musa, said the deployment represents a major shift in addressing education challenges in the state.
“What really excited me is the use of AI in our schools for teachers. I have seen what it can do. It is going to address the issues that have been disturbing us,” he said.
He added that the focus of the reform is to improve learning outcomes through better support for teachers and improved monitoring systems.

“My take-home is effective utilisation of AI for improvement of learning outcomes for our learners,” he said.
Prof. Musa said the system would help education managers identify gaps in teaching and learning more quickly and respond with targeted interventions.
“The AI will help us know exactly where to intervene,” he said.
The Acting Managing Director of JigawaUNITE, Olusanya Omojola, said the platform is designed to simplify education data for policymakers and improve decision-making.
“The Enterprise AI suite gives state commissioners and government officials the ability to ask questions about their entire education system in plain English and receive instant answers,” he said.
He said Jigawa is among the early adopters of large-scale AI systems in public education administration.
The President and Co-founder of NewGlobe, Shannon May, said the initiative reflects a shift toward building education systems designed for emerging technologies.
“We are building from scratch in the age of AI,” she said.
She added that the system integrates multiple tools that support teaching delivery and real-time education management across schools.
Education stakeholders say the deployment is expected to improve learning outcomes and reduce disparities between rural and urban schools through better access to instructional support and data-driven decision-making.
The programme is expected to be expanded in phases across more public schools in the state.
