Google has announced a major expansion of its artificial intelligence strategy, introducing a redesigned AI-powered Search system and reviving its smart glasses initiative. The company said the changes represent a shift toward a more integrated, AI-driven ecosystem across its products.
The updated Search experience is built around generative AI, allowing users to interact with the platform through conversational queries rather than traditional keyword searches. The system supports text, voice, image, and video inputs, and produces synthesised responses such as summaries, plans, and structured recommendations.
A Google spokesperson said the company is moving toward a new model of information access, stating: “We’re moving from helping you find information to helping you get things done with it.”
Google also confirmed the introduction of AI agents within Search. These agents are designed to break down complex user requests into multi-step tasks and execute them across services such as Gmail, Maps, and Calendar. The company said the feature is intended to shift Search from a retrieval tool into an execution-based assistant.

Alongside the Search overhaul, Google announced the return of smart glasses developed with partners including Samsung and Warby Parker. The new device focuses on practical use cases such as voice assistance, real-time translation, media capture, and contextual AI support based on the user’s viewing context.

Google said the new glasses are designed to connect directly with its AI systems, enabling real-time assistance through its Gemini models. The company is also reportedly developing more advanced prototypes with expanded augmented reality capabilities.
The announcements come amid increasing competition in AI-powered wearable devices, particularly from Meta and other technology companies investing in smart eyewear and assistant-driven hardware.
Analysts say Google’s advantage lies in integrating AI across its broader ecosystem, including Search, Android, and productivity tools.
