Businesses and digital creators are increasingly adopting artificial intelligence across content production processes. From video editing and graphic design to social media management, AI is reshaping how creators work by improving speed, creativity, and consistency in the digital content space.
In an exclusive interview with AIbase Nigeria, video editor and Canva specialist Ifeoma Rosemary Ikeh explained how she integrates AI tools into her workflow while still maintaining originality and full creative control over her outputs.
She said AI has significantly improved her editing process by reducing time spent on repetitive tasks and helping her organise ideas more efficiently.
“I use AI-assisted tools to speed up my editing process, especially for captions, background removal, text generation, and content ideas,” she said, adding that AI helps her structure ideas faster while still leaving room for creativity during actual editing.
Ifeoma also highlighted Canva’s AI-powered features as a key part of her workflow, particularly for design and video production. She noted that tools such as Magic Write, background remover, text-to-image inspiration, and AI design suggestions have made her work faster and more polished.
“I mostly use Canva AI features like Magic Write for content ideas, background remover, text-to-image inspiration, and AI design suggestions,” she said, explaining that the tools improve both efficiency and content quality.

She further explained how AI has supported her work on real-world projects, including educational and promotional videos for a digital marketing training and a computer training centre. According to her, AI assisted with content structuring, caption generation, and visual direction throughout the production process.
“One project involved creating video content to showcase topics learned during a digital marketing training while promoting a computer training centre,” she said.
Despite these advantages, she emphasised that AI does not replace human creativity but rather enhances it as a support system.
“I see AI as a support tool, not a replacement for creativity,” she said, adding that she always refines AI-generated ideas to align with a brand’s voice, message, and target audience.
“I always personalise AI-generated ideas to match the brand’s voice, message, and target audience,” she said.
On content repurposing, she explained that AI helps transform long-form content into short-form videos by assisting with idea breakdown and structuring. She begins by identifying key messages before using AI to generate talking points, which are then developed into engaging videos with captions, visuals, and transitions.
She also shared that her workflow combines multiple tools depending on the stage of production. She uses ChatGPT for scripting and content ideas, while CapCut and Adobe Premiere Pro handle editing, captions, transitions, and motion effects.
According to her, staying updated is essential in the fast-evolving AI space, so she continuously learns through tutorials, online communities, and hands-on experimentation with tools like Canva and CapCut.
“I stay updated by watching tutorials, following creators in digital marketing and video editing, learning from online communities, and exploring new AI features in tools like Canva and CapCut,” she said.
She described her content creation process as beginning with a clear understanding of the goal and target audience, followed by AI-assisted brainstorming, then design and editing, and finally optimisation for engagement.
However, she noted that one of the key challenges of AI-generated content is that it can sometimes feel generic or disconnected from a brand’s identity if not properly guided.
“One challenge is that AI-generated content can sometimes feel too generic or not fully aligned with a brand’s identity,” she said, stressing the importance of human refinement in maintaining authenticity.
Looking ahead, Ifeoma believes AI will continue to play a major role in content creation, particularly in planning, scripting, design, captions, and editing support. However, she maintains that human creativity will remain central to producing impactful content.
“I would use AI to improve efficiency in content planning, scripting, design ideas, captions, and editing support,” she said, concluding that the best results come from balancing AI efficiency with human creativity and emotional intelligence.
