Amazon.com has broadened access to its Health AI healthcare artificial intelligence assistant, making the service available on its main website and mobile app for all U.S. customers, not just members of One Medical or Prime.
The AI-powered assistant, originally launched within the One Medical app, helps users manage more than 30 non-emergency health conditions, including acne, sleep apnea, diabetes, and colds. It can answer questions about symptoms and medications, explain test results, and connect users with human clinicians when necessary.
“Health AI is designed to handle the logistical and informational work that creates friction in health care, so patients and providers can spend more time on what matters most,” said Andrew Diamond, chief medical officer at Amazon One Medical.
Unlike other tools, Amazon emphasised that Health AI does not independently create treatment plans. For complex medical needs, users are connected with healthcare providers. Non-members who require a provider visit typically pay about $29 per visit unless covered by a promotional offer.
With user consent, the assistant can access personal medical records, including lab results and clinical notes, and analyse customers’ health-related purchases on Amazon’s platform to provide tailored responses.
In a company statement, Amazon said, “Millions of customers come to Amazon daily searching for health-related products and services-and we know health care matters deeply to them.” The company added that the goal is to combine clinical expertise with AI to reduce complexity in care access.
The expansion places Amazon in direct competition with other tech firms developing generative AI for healthcare, including OpenAI and Anthropic, which aim to provide personalised health guidance through conversational interfaces.
