The African Development Bank Group (AfDB), in collaboration with development partners, has launched a free artificial intelligence (AI) training programme for public officials across Africa to strengthen the continent’s capacity to harness emerging technologies for governance and public service delivery.
The initiative was announced on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA81).
The programme is designed to equip government officials, policymakers and public sector leaders with practical knowledge of artificial intelligence, including its applications, opportunities and governance considerations.

Organisers say the training will help African governments build the institutional capacity needed to integrate AI into policymaking and public administration.

The programme will provide participants with access to learning resources and training opportunities at no cost.
