The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), in partnership with relevant stakeholders, has trained 100 youths in Gombe State on artificial intelligence (AI) and data analytics as part of efforts to strengthen digital skills and promote participation in the country’s growing technology-driven economy.
The training programme is designed to equip young people with practical knowledge of emerging technologies, focusing on data-driven decision-making, digital literacy, and the application of AI tools in modern workplaces.
According to organisers, the initiative forms part of broader interventions aimed at building human capacity, supporting innovation, and preparing Nigerian youths for opportunities in the global digital economy.
Participants were introduced to key concepts in artificial intelligence and data analytics, including how data can be collected, processed, and interpreted to support business, governance, and industrial decision-making.
The programme also covered foundational digital skills and provided hands-on exposure to data analysis and AI tools.
Officials involved in the initiative said the training reflects ongoing efforts to bridge the skills gap among young Nigerians, particularly in areas where advanced digital competencies are increasingly in demand.
Gombe State, like several other parts of the country, has been identified as a focus area for youth empowerment programmes aimed at reducing unemployment and improving access to technology-based opportunities.
The training is also aligned with national objectives to diversify the economy through innovation, with emphasis on developing a workforce capable of contributing to sectors such as energy, technology, and digital services.

Stakeholders noted that artificial intelligence and data analytics are becoming essential skills globally, with applications spanning industries such as finance, healthcare, energy, and governance.
By exposing participants to these tools, the programme is expected to enhance employability and encourage entrepreneurship among young people in the state.
The NCDMB and its partners indicated that similar capacity-building initiatives may be expanded in the future to reach more beneficiaries across other states, depending on available resources and programme outcomes.
As Nigeria continues to invest in digital transformation and human capital development, training programmes such as this are expected to play a key role in preparing the next generation for technology-driven careers.
