Overview of this opportunity
Meta, in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy (FMCIDE), the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme, the National Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (NCAIR), and Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Nigeria (RAIN), has launched AI Academy Nigeria, a national initiative designed to strengthen AI skills, innovation, and entrepreneurship across Nigeria.
As part of the initiative, the AI Academy Nigeria Pitchathon invites Nigerian startups, developers, and innovation teams building with Meta’s AI technologies to showcase their solutions, gain visibility, and compete for funding.
Opportunity Details
The Pitchathon is designed for:
- Nigerian startups building AI-powered solutions
- Developers and innovation teams using Meta AI technologies
- Founders with early-stage AI ideas
- Teams with a working AI product or prototype
Successful applicants will have the opportunity to pitch their innovations live at GITEX Nigeria before investors, ecosystem leaders, and industry stakeholders.

Top Prize
The top two winning startups will each receive:
- US$5,000 in equity-free funding
- Meta advertising credits ($2000)
- Invitation to attend and pitch at Meta’s Regional AI Summit in Istanbul, Türkiye (November 2026)
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Be Nigerian developers, founders, startups, or innovation teams
- Be building AI solutions using Meta’s AI technologies
- Have an early-stage AI idea, prototype, or working product

How to Apply
Applications are submitted through the official Meta AI Academy Nigeria application portal. Eligible applications will undergo a competitive selection process, and shortlisted teams will be invited to pitch at GITEX Nigeria.
