Zoom Communications Inc. on Tuesday announced the launch of AI Companion 3.0, the latest version of its artificial intelligence assistant, as the video-conferencing company continues to reposition itself as a broader workplace productivity platform rather than just a meetings provider.
The new release introduces agentic AI capabilities, allowing Zoom’s assistant to move beyond summarising meetings and instead help users take action on information discussed during calls, chats and emails. The update also includes a new web-based interface, making AI Companion accessible outside Zoom meetings for the first time.
“With AI Companion 3.0, we’re transforming conversations into action,” Zoom said in a statement. “The goal is to help users save time, stay focused and get work done faster.”
From Meetings to Workflows
AI Companion 3.0 can generate meeting summaries, highlight key discussion points, create task lists and draft follow-up documents automatically. Unlike earlier versions, the assistant is now designed to support end-to-end workflows, allowing users to track progress and manage next steps without switching between multiple tools.
Zoom said the assistant draws context from across its platform, including Zoom Meetings, Team Chat, Mail and Docs, to provide more relevant and personalised responses.
The company is also introducing a visual workflow builder, currently in beta, that enables users to design custom AI-powered processes without coding.

Standalone Web Access
A notable addition is a standalone web version of AI Companion, which allows users to review summaries, ask questions and manage tasks directly through a browser. This move positions AI Companion as a daily productivity assistant rather than a feature limited to live meetings.
Zoom said the web experience will expand over time with deeper integration into Zoom Docs and third-party tools.
Pricing and Availability
AI Companion 3.0 is included at no additional cost for many paid Zoom Workplace subscribers. It is also available as a standalone add-on, priced at approximately $10 per user per month. Zoom Basic users will have limited access to certain AI features.
The company emphasised that customer data processed by AI Companion is not used to train Zoom’s AI models or those of third-party providers, addressing growing enterprise concerns around data privacy and security.
Strategic Shift
The launch comes as Zoom faces increased competition from Microsoft, Google and other tech companies that are embedding generative AI into workplace software. By expanding AI Companion’s role, Zoom is signalling its ambition to become a central hub for collaboration and productivity in an AI-driven work environment.
Industry analysts say the move reflects a broader trend among enterprise software companies to embed AI deeply into everyday workflows rather than positioning it as a standalone feature.
Zoom said additional enhancements to AI Companion are planned throughout the coming year as the company continues to invest in AI-powered work orchestration.
