The Registrar-General of the commission disclosed this at the CAC’s 35th anniversary lecture in Abuja, saying the adoption of AI has significantly improved operational efficiency and reduced delays in business registration.
According to the CAC, the surge in daily registrations reflects growing demand from entrepreneurs, digital businesses and small enterprises seeking formal recognition, as well as the commission’s ability to handle higher volumes through automation.
The commission also confirmed a technology collaboration with Google, aimed at strengthening its digital infrastructure, improving system stability and enhancing the overall user experience on its registration platforms.
Officials said the partnership with Google would provide technical support and global expertise to help the commission scale its operations and align with international best practices in digital governance.
The Registrar-General noted that before the introduction of AI-powered systems, the commission struggled to process a fraction of its current daily volume due to manual workflows and legacy systems. With automation now in place, name reservations, document verification and customer enquiries are handled more efficiently.
CAC said the use of artificial intelligence has also improved its capacity to manage thousands of daily enquiries through email and call centres, reducing response times and operational bottlenecks.
The commission attributed the increase in business registrations partly to policy reforms encouraging formalisation, as well as the rise of technology-driven enterprises and online commerce across the country.
The AI deployment forms part of CAC’s broader digital transformation agenda, which aims to move the commission from paper-based processes to a fully digital, round-the-clock corporate registry.
Industry observers say the development could positively impact Nigeria’s ease-of-doing-business environment by lowering entry barriers for small and medium-sized enterprises and improving regulatory transparency.
CAC officials said further upgrades to the platform are planned as registration volumes continue to rise, with technology partnerships expected to play a central role in sustaining service delivery improvements.
