Libya has taken a significant step toward digital transformation with the launch of its first AI Youth Club, an initiative designed to equip young people with practical artificial intelligence and digital skills. The program reflects a growing recognition across Africa of the importance of preparing youth for an increasingly AI-driven global economy.

The AI Youth Club was officially launched in Bani Walid under the supervision of Libya’s Ministry of Youth, in collaboration with the Dinar Martyrs Centre for Youth Care. The initiative aims to provide structured training and hands-on experience in artificial intelligence, helping young Libyans move beyond basic digital literacy to advanced, future-ready skills. Building Practical AI Skills for Youth

The club will focus on training in programming, data analysis, machine learning fundamentals, robotics, and digital ethics. By offering workshops, guided learning sessions, and innovation-focused activities, the initiative seeks to empower participants to apply AI technologies to real-world challenges across sectors such as education, healthcare, finance, and public services.

This approach mirrors broader continental efforts to strengthen youth capacity in emerging technologies, similar to AI education initiatives across Africa and to efforts to close Africa’s digital skills gap.

    Supporting Libya’s Digital Transformation Goals

The launch of the AI Youth Club aligns with Libya’s broader ambition to diversify its economy and invest in a knowledge-based future. By creating accessible spaces for learning and innovation, the country aims to nurture a new generation of tech-savvy youth who can contribute to national development and regional competitiveness.

Across the continent, governments and private organisations are increasingly prioritising youth-focused AI programs, as seen in Africa’s evolving AI policy landscape. Libya’s initiative adds to this momentum, signalling a commitment to ensuring young people are not left behind in the global AI race.

    A Growing Trend Across Africa

The introduction of the AI Youth Club places Libya among a growing list of African nations investing in grassroots AI education. Such programs not only improve employability but also encourage innovation, entrepreneurship, and local solutions to societal challenges.

As Africa continues to embrace artificial intelligence, initiatives like this highlight the importance of early engagement, community-based learning, and sustained investment in youth development—key themes regularly explored on the African AI ecosystem.

Libya’s first AI Youth Club represents a promising step toward building a digitally skilled generation ready to shape the country’s technological future. aibasenig
