Industrial software company AVEVA is expanding its artificial intelligence (AI) and digital twin technologies into Nigeria’s industrial sector, positioning the country as a key growth market in its global digital transformation strategy.
The initiative will be spotlighted at the upcoming AVEVA Day Nigeria, scheduled for June 11, 2026, in Lagos, where industry leaders, policymakers, and technology experts will explore how AI-driven industrial systems can improve efficiency, sustainability, and operational performance across critical sectors.
AVEVA says Nigeria’s industrial base presents strong potential for digital transformation, particularly in energy, manufacturing, and infrastructure, where data integration and predictive technologies are increasingly essential.
Speaking on the company’s vision for the region, AVEVA’s Vice President for Africa, Khaled Salah, highlighted Nigeria’s strategic importance in the industrial technology landscape.
“Nigeria has the scale, resources, and industrial ambition to become one of the leading energy and industrial hubs in the region,” Salah said. “At AVEVA, we are proud to support this journey by helping organisations leverage digital innovation to enhance operational performance, accelerate transformation, and advance sustainability goals.”

The company’s strategy is anchored on expanding the use of industrial AI and digital twin systems, which create virtual models of physical assets and processes. These systems allow operators to simulate real-time conditions, optimise performance, and predict equipment failures before they occur.
AVEVA’s CONNECT platform plays a central role in this approach, enabling industrial organisations to unify data across operations and apply AI-driven analytics for faster decision-making. The platform is designed to reduce inefficiencies, improve asset reliability, and support long-term sustainability goals.
Rob McGreevy, Chief Product Officer at AVEVA, has previously explained how the company is embedding intelligence into industrial systems through its software connectivity framework, allowing organisations to transition from reactive operations to predictive, data-led models.
The upcoming AVEVA Day Nigeria event will focus on the theme “Driving the Transformation: Leveraging Digital Technologies and AI to Achieve Operational Excellence, Increase Efficiency and Reduce Emissions.” The event will be held at Eko Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
A keynote presentation by AVEVA representative Gaurav Panpaliya is expected to highlight the role of AI-enabled digital twins in enabling autonomous and sustainable industrial operations.
Industry observers say the expansion of digital twin and AI technologies into Nigeria reflects a broader shift across Africa, where industrial operators are increasingly adopting smart systems to address rising energy costs, infrastructure challenges, and efficiency demands.
Digital twin technology is particularly gaining traction in sectors such as oil and gas, utilities, and manufacturing, where real-time monitoring and predictive maintenance can significantly reduce downtime and operational risk.
AVEVA’s increased focus on Nigeria underscores the country’s growing role in the global industrial technology landscape, as companies invest in tools that support digital transformation, decarbonisation, and improved productivity.
As the June event approaches, attention is expected to focus on how quickly Nigerian industrial operators can integrate AI-powered systems into existing infrastructure and how such technologies may reshape long-term industrial competitiveness in the region.
